Type vietnamese in slackware with scim & skim

install scim
install skim
connfig as instructed at
http://www.scim-im.org/wiki/documentation/installation_and_configuration/all/installation_from_the_source

install scim-unikey

restart computer.

It is not simple as you said
I do not think that you had installed sucessfully scim in Slackware, and can use it in kword
